SCD is all about finding real joy, strength, health and positivity through dance. AND then spreading it on to as many people as possible. Dance is a force for good on this planet and we would love you to help us do more #DANCINGFORGOOD

SCD is relaunching our Young Leader Programme, giving young dancers the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and inspire the next generation of dancers.

As a Young Leader, you’ll support the SCD team in classes each week and may also have opportunities to gain valuable experience through work experience placements.

Who can apply?

Young dancers in Year 7 and above who are enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn.

This is your chance to grow as a dancer, develop as a leader and make a positive difference to younger dancers at SCD.

Ready to become an SCD Young Leader?

YDL is a programme that works alongside our class timetable, giving high school students the opportunity to grow as leaders. Its also an option open for Yr8s+ during SCD holiday camps.

What we are looking for:

• Are in School Year 7 through to age 18.
• Have a genuine desire to support others, be kind and make people feel welcome and included, whatever their abilities or personality.
• Have a foundational level of dance experience and are open to developing their skills as both a dancer and a YL.
• Have a genuine interest in dance and want to help others enjoy #DANCINGFORGOOD.
• Are flexible, enthusiastic and willing to support Team SCD members regularly in classes, with a commitment to at least one class per week for a term.
• Are excited to support our SCD Dance Camps, helping younger students fully engage, have fun and feel supported throughout their camp experience.

What we can offer:

• Receive a dedicated SCD Young Leader top. 
• 1-to-1 check-ins with the Young Leader Programme Lead to support your progress, development and goals. 
• Access a free Strength & Conditioning or Yoga class to support your body, wellbeing and development as a dancer. 
• Gain valuable leadership and volunteering experience that you can showcase on your CV, UCAS personal statement and future applications. 
• Develop transferable skills including communication, teamwork, confidence, responsibility and leadership. 
• Build experience working with younger dancers and the wider SCD team.
