Subject: BDO competition March 2025
Hello all,
Hope that you are well,
We'd like to do things a little differently this time round at the next competition. After February Half term, the Street Crew will be focusing on Duo work. Street Crew classes will of course continue as normal until then.
We will not be competing in a Team capacity for this one and instead preparing Duos to take part - with the additional option of Solo's if individual Dancers would like to do so. If any Dancers are wanting to compete in the Solos category, Jaéda will speak with the class regarding this also.
Jaéda will be assessing how the group works in different Duo partners and making a decision of pairing up Duos which are best suited for each other. Please note, this may be different to Duos that have previously competed together.
For those who have never competed in a Duo category before, Jaéda will explain the process soon during class. A quick overview: Duos will compete once in their appropriate category to music randomly selected on the day by the DJ. After competing once, other age categories will take place etc. Each Duo will have a number and will then need to listen out for the host to see if they received a call back to the next round etc. Your dancer may not receive a call back and it may seem to be over quickly for them. This is all experience for the Dancers and reminded not to be disheartened if this is the outcome. It gives Dancers a great insight into what they exceeded in and what needs work on - a learning experience for all. Some situations, depending on how many are registered for their particular category at the event, it might go into a straight final of 5-7 Duos and they will be placed after only one round of dancing.
Jaéda will prepare all Dancers for this process.
If you have any questions, myself or Jaéda will be happy to answer you to help make things clearer if needed.
Before these Duo pairings can be made, we need you to confirm your Dancers attendance at the next competition:
