Here at SCD we work hard to make sure our dance classes are as inclusive as possible, so everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy life more through dance.
We recognise some people love performing and others prefer just to keep enjoying their classes.
We try to ensure people always have something to work towards; a dance film making session, a show or a Watching Week opportunity. Watching Weeks take place at the end of every term, the penultimate week of term just in case people are off for the last week.
The Practicalities
All parents/carers are invited into the dance studios for the last 15 mins of classes so that students can show a little bit of that they have been learning. Some classes have prepared short dances to show, and some will be showing some class exercises.
For those with multiple children in classes that take place at the same time, please feel free to join one class 30 mins before the end and switch over the to the other class for the remaining 15 mins.
Please limit those watching to no more than two adults (siblings are welcome but please can we ask that if any siblings become a distraction you make your way quietly back outside the studio)
Photos and videos are permitted but these should not be posted on any social media platform as we do not have the permission of everyone in the classes.
Taking care of everyone
For some students - grownups watching can be extremely intimidating.
Please talk to your child ahead of watching week so that they feel prepared and if they feel too under confident when the adults are watching then please offer them reassurance and comfort as we do not want to add additional pressure to anyone feeling unsure. Simply remind them that everyone is there to support them.
Thanks for your support always and especially through Watching Weeks @ SCD.
